A Journey to Becoming a Better Muslimah

As the blessed month of Ramadan approaches, my heart fills with excitement and a deep sense of reflection. For a niqabi girl, this month is not just about fasting but also about spiritual renewal, self-discipline, and strengthening my connection with Allah.

1. Preparing My Heart & Mind

Ramadan is a time of purification, not just of the body but of the soul. I begin my preparation by:

  • Making sincere du’a that Allah allows me to witness Ramadan with a healthy body and a pure heart.
  • Repenting for past sins and asking Allah for guidance to improve.
  • Setting my intentions—whether it’s improving my prayers, increasing my Qur’an recitation, or working on my patience and kindness.

2. Strengthening My Ibadah (Worship)

Before Ramadan begins, I try to increase my acts of worship so that when the month starts, I can fully immerse myself in its blessings:

  • Praying extra Sunnah & Tahajjud: Strengthening my prayers before Ramadan helps me stay consistent during the holy month.
  • Reciting and reflecting on the Qur’an: I start reading more Qur’an and understanding its meanings so that I can complete it at least once in Ramadan.
  • Giving more charity: Whether it’s money, food, or kindness, I make an effort to help those in need.

3. Organizing My Time & Schedule

As a niqabi girl, I try to balance my daily responsibilities with ibadah. To make the most of Ramadan, I:

  • Plan my daily routine, ensuring I have enough time for Qur’an, prayer, and self-reflection.
  • Prepare my suhoor and iftar meals in advance to avoid stress and focus more on worship.
  • Limit social distractions and unnecessary outings to stay focused on my spirituality.

4. Seeking Knowledge & Improving Character

Ramadan is about more than fasting—it’s about becoming a better Muslimah in every way. I strive to:

  • Learn more about Islam by reading books or listening to beneficial lectures.
  • Improve my manners by being more patient, forgiving, and kind to others.
  • Control my tongue—no gossip, no harsh words, just pure speech and remembrance of Allah.

5. Strengthening My Relationship with Allah

This is the most important part of my preparation. Ramadan is a time to renew my connection with my Creator by:

  • Making heartfelt du’as for myself, my family, and the entire Ummah.
  • Being grateful for every blessing and practicing more shukr (thankfulness).
  • Reflecting on my purpose and striving to be a better version of myself beyond Ramadan.

Final Thoughts

Ramadan is not just about abstaining from food and drink—it’s about becoming closer to Allah and transforming our hearts. As a niqabi girl, I see this month as a beautiful opportunity to grow in faith, strengthen my modesty, and deepen my devotion to Allah.

May Allah bless us all with a fruitful and rewarding Ramadan, full of blessings, mercy, and forgiveness. Ameen.
